downloadThe Zika Virus has now reached the United States, specifically Florida. These are some things you need to know about the Zika Virus. The Virus is spread by a bite from an infected Aedes mosquito, which is usually most aggressive at daytime and bites more in the day, but they can also bite at night. The Zika Virus can cause a serious birth defect called Microcephaly, if pregnant women get the virus. Also there happens to be no vaccine or any other source of treatment for the Zika Virus. Some symptoms of the Zika Virus are joint pain, red eyes, rash, a fever, and other symptoms like a headache or muscle pain. But these symptoms are surprisingly not severe they are just mild for an adult. The Zika virus was not actually discovered in South America; the Zika Virus was actually discovered in the Zika Forest, Uganda, Africa. The Zika Virus is related to the Yellow Fever and the West Nile virus which both are obviously mosquito transmitted viruses. Now that I’ve probably scared you, there is a way to prevent the Zika Virus. The way of preventing the virus is to avoid mosquito bites so to prevent mosquito bites you should put on insect repellent on unclothed skin, for example your arms, face, and if you’re wearing shorts, your legs. That is what you need to know about the Zika Virus and stay safe.
