Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is coming up and that means we have no school Monday the 18th. The reason we have MLK Jr. Day is to honor the achievements and life of Martin Luther King Jr. Some of his achievements include receiving a Nobel Peace Prize. He also led a boycott on the Montgomery bus system, and he led many peaceful protests, all in the name of equal rights for all. An interesting fact about Martin Luther King is that his birth name was Michael. He was a very important person because he was a very big part of the American Civil Rights Movement during the 1960s. Remember, there will be no school Monday the 18th and it is in honor of this great man.
