EDITORIAL: Should Late Work be Accepted?

Before school let out in March 2020, most teachers didn’t accept any form of late work. This system was enforced by most teachers, with some giving out late work passes that would allow the work to be submitted the next day for partial credit. However, nowadays, late assignments are accepted as far as a week after their due date. In my opinion, late work should be accepted up to an extent.
Turning late work once in a while is okay, but when people turn every other assignment in late, late work should not be accepted. Everyone messes up once in a while, so late work should not be completely abolished. Instead, we should make it so that late work will only be accepted once every two months. That way, nobody can abuse the system, but people can still turn in late work in the event that something happened.
This, in my opinion, is how the late work system should work for our school. It should be non-abusable, but still fair.
