Antakshari: A Music Game

Lately, people have had a lot of time to jam out to our favorite tunes, listening to them over and over again. Perhaps it’s time to mix things up a tad with a twist to the music. It’s time to play Antakshari!

Antakshari is an Indian musical game. It’s played by many people all over the Eastern country. You only need two people to play! Here’s how it works. One person sings the first verse of any song. Then, someone else sings the first verse of a different song. Here’s the hard part: you have to start the next verse with the same letter as the first verse ended on.

In the traditional version (which was intended for different languages than English), you end with the last syllable of the word. If you want to play Antakshari like this, then you’re in for an entertaining challenge! This game will keep you on your toes, and too long of a hesitation, perhaps not more than 10 seconds, will put you out of the game. Keep on going like this until you’ve got two finalists who can’t sing anymore.

Finally, one of the two may mess up, singing a song that begins with the wrong letter(s). Crown the victor with imaginary laurels and begin again!
