Redlands Rocks

You’ve probably seen painted rocks in random places around town at least once. Now, during quarantine, Redlands Rocks have more meaning than ever. Seeing something beautiful is a sure way to put a smile on someone’s face. It’s a way to show everybody that we’re in this together and we will get through this. If you don’t know much about Redlands Rocks, the whole point is to spread joy. Participating is easy.

Step 1: Paint  or decorate a rock or two and hide them around town or your neighborhood. The only requirement is to decorate in a way that “will make someone smile.”

Step 2: Post pictures to social media with the hastag #RedlandsRocks.

Step 3: To go out and find rocks, look at social media for pictures of rocks. This will give you an idea of where they are hidden. Popular places include A.K Smiley Public Library and Prospect Park.

Step 4: If you find a rock you can either keep it or re-hide it for someone else to find.

Make sure to stay safe by wearing gloves and using Clorox wipes to sanitize any rocks you find if you decide to pick them up.
