Because of social distancing it can be hard to find new books, especially with the libraries being closed. However, there are still several ways to get new reading material. First, if you are looking to buy books, order from a local business. It is a great way to get new books and ensure that our local businesses can continue to serve us after the pandemic is over. However, if you’re not one to spend money there are still ways to get library books. Currently, A.K Smiley Public Library is offering the Books to Go service for all registered cardholders. Basically, you can request books, CDs, Magazines, ect. through their website: https://www.akspl.org/ or emailing [email protected] or calling (909) 798-7565. Another option is to utilize A.K’s online library. As long as you have a card, you can read books in your browser. Simply check out the book you want and click OverDrive Read (in browser) and a pop-up window will open. You can use any library’s elibrary as long as you are a registered cardholder, for example, the LA Public Library.
