Bread: Society’s Guilty Pleasure

Bread. A substance made from wheat, plowed, and then made into a dough, which then spends time baking slowly, yet surely in an oven. Bread comes in all different shapes and forms. There are bagels, donuts, loaves, naan, tortillas, and ones that taste so heavenly, it seems a higher power made them. But in the past few years, bread has become the Joker (from DC Comics) of society. Critics hate it, bread goes away, and then it comes back. “Too many carbs,” they (social media influencers and other icons) warn, but bread is us.
