Recently, 6th grader Ellie Zhang competed in a chess tournament in Tijuana, Mexico. Ellie represented the United states in 9 competitive rounds of international chess. She competed against top chess players from Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Ellie won a silver medal in the 12 year old girls section. Her performance awarded her the WCM (Women Candidate Master) title be FIDE (i.e. World Chess Federation). We are so proud of Ellie’s accomplishments and hopes she does many other great things in the near future.  If you are interested in chess, like Ellie, consider joining chess club.
