Featured Book of the Month

Halley K., Staff Writer

Hello, hello, Cope students. Are you ready for this month’s F.B.O.T.M? Because I, most certainly, am not.

I am so happy to be able to announce that this month’s featured book is “Cinder” from the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer. “Cinder”, for me, was a beautifully written science fiction novel, focusing on a young cyborg girl and the trouble she has trying to fit in. Basically, as a short summary of the plot, the main character’s name is Cinder, she’s sixteen, has a metal arm, hand, and part of her brain is cyborg-ish. She looks like a normal person, except for the metal hand and foot, and is average in looks. In the world that they live in, many years from now, there is the plague. This plague is called the “Blue Fever” (more commonly known as letumosis), it is fatal, and there is no cure. Depressing, right?

As a loose retelling of the age-old tale of Cinderella, “Cinder” is a truly wonderful read, and a must on your bookshelf. At least, on my bookshelf it is. Read on eagles! Read on!
