Recently, the devastating hurricane, Hurricane Florence, hit North Carolina. After hearing about this, Mrs. McBride decided to show her students a few pictures and videos. This immediately sparked an idea in the students. The students wanted to start their own hurricane drive. Mrs. McBride encouraged the students and made a website on the Red Cross support system to let more people know about the hurricane drive. The students were so determined to make this drive a success. They did mini hurricane drives outside of schools on the weekends. For example, Care Sheely and Cameron Kiley are making and selling tie-dye-T-shirts. Gabrielle Lemus, Sofia Ravanzo, Ashwaq Manasrah, Abhisri Narayanan, and Ramya Saravanan are having lemonade stands. Phoebe Kreger and Emy Meinke have a slime business. Also, a few students like Nalon Stallworth are earning money doing chores for neighbors. All together, they have collected more than $400 as a single class!
