Restaurant Review: The Cupcake and Espresso Bar

Restaurant Review: The Cupcake and Espresso Bar

Harris G., Staff Writer

After a worker’s strike and thousands of dollars in wage theft caused Auggie’s to close down, it was replaced by The Cupcake and Espresso Bar. I recently got to attend it and was pleasantly surprised by my experience. The restaurant serves the titular cupcakes and espressos, as well as other baked goods and coffees. The atmosphere is quite pleasant, they have made only minor renovations to the space since Auggies was there which admittedly could be said to be negative or positive. The ordering experience was pleasant and the only slight inconveniences seem to have been caused by a lack of experience (not knowing the names of certain items and the like), which is a good thing as it dictates that that restaurant’s service will only get better over time.

The quality of the food, however, was where the restaurant really shines. According to my father the espresso was, “the best in Redlands”; it was dense and not watery. I also shared this sentiment regarding everything else in the restaurant. The cupcakes, while not out of the ordinary, were very good. The selection was also very impressive; they had a wide range of all of my favorite types of cupcakes while not too many as to make ordering confusing and difficult. All in all, if you want either cupcakes or espressos or anything similar, this is easily the best restaurant in Redlands for you. I highly recommend it!
